At B’nai Israel Congregation exists tradition for the President to appeal for donations on Kol Nidre. This is difficult for me because I know we are all swamped with requests for donations from many groups and charities. However, here we go again. Please donate to Congregation B’nai Israel. We need your time and money. We survive and keep the doors open through your volunteerism and donations. The mission of a local synagogue is to keep the Jewish Community alive and perpetuate the community by passing the Torah to the next generation. When I see our Sanctuary filled during the Days of Awe, I know that you care about Judaism and the Jewish Community. With each of us doing our part, we can pass B’nai Israel to the next generation, just as those who came before passed it to us. Judaism has a rich and glorious tradition and so does Congregation B’nai Israel. I am offering you a chance to do a great mitzvah, to keep B’nai Israel alive and well.
Here is a list of a few good things that come from B’nai Israel; we provide a spiritual home and sanctuary for prayer, we maintain a school and educate our children, we celebrate and honor the Jewish Holidays, we give back to our local community, we foster connections between our members, we comfort the sick or bereaved and we provide a world class Rabbi to our membership.
One more thought.....From Mishna and also in pirkei Avot (6)
The world stands on three things; Torah study, Divine service (prayer) and acts of kindness and charity The first two we do every time we come to shul and they’re FREE. The third we have to do on our own and dig deep within ourselves.
These three approaches —our initiative enhanced by Hashem's bountiful blessings which are then shared--are the pillars upon which the universe stands."
Don’t you want to make sure that the world will remain standing, especially Congregation B’nai Israel right here in Vallejo? Then GIVE, please.
