THE CBI COMMUNITY

THE CBI COMMUNITY

Congregation B'nai Israel, in Northern California, has been Solano County's only independent synagogue since 1910. The congregation is a welcoming, inclusive, egalitarian community; spiritual and traditional. Please join us for our joyous, musical Shabbat and Holiday services, Religious school, Adult Education, and monthly events.

There is so much more to tell you about Congregation B'nai Israel. Please contact us so that we can arrange a tour of the temple.

EDUCATION

Religious School

The goal of our Religious School Program is to instill in our children a love for Judaism and an appreciation of the values and ideals of our Jewish heritage.

The Religious School meets on Sunday mornings from 10:00 to noon from September to May. Most of our teachers have been teaching for many years and are respected for their educational background and teaching experience.

  • Religious school commences with pre-school classes and continues up to 8th grade Hebrew and Judaic studies.
  • Bar/Bat Mitzvah Classes - In addition to a group class, each student is given personal training by Rabbi David White. This includes a B'nai Mitzvah Family Seminar to prepare the entire family for their special day.
  • Summer Camp – A high percentage of our children attend summer camp at CBI.

Adult Education

B'nai Israel is committed to the principle that education is a continuous and life- long activity. Programs and courses of study have been and continue to be developed for our adult members.

Our adult education program includes classes such as:

  • Hebrew Reading
  • Adult B'nai Mitzvah
  • Torah Study
  • Shmooze with the Rabbi
  • Introduction to Judaism
  • Havdalah/Movie Nights
  • Summer Sundays
  • Trip to Israel

Pre-K

B’nai Israel is offering a PreK/K Sunday School class tuition-free. It is open to all those interested. Synagogue membership is not required. We need at least 4 children for this to be a viable program.

Social

Our social activities are an important part of the communal experience at CBI. Some of these include:

· Sha-Potluck Dinners

· Jewish Movie Night

· Rosh Hashana Oneg

·  Sukkot under the Stars

· Chanukah Latke Dinner

· Purim Concert

· Israeli Dance Class

A number of other social events are conducted by our affiliates.

Affiliates

The experience of belonging to the Jewish community is enhanced by our organizations that appeal to specific target groups.

Sisterhood – Our women meet regularly to serve the congregation and socialize together as sisters. The Sisterhood runs the gift shop and undertakes many special projects throughout the year.
Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization -  meet monthly for Coffee & Chat and other social events during the year.

Shabbat and Holiday Services

Shabbat – Services First, Third and Fourth Fridays at 8:00 P.M.
Second Friday Shabbat Potluck Seder at 7:00 P.M.
Saturday Services Commence at 10:00 A.M.

This is an opportunity to ask questions about the service and to discuss the weekly Torah portion.

Please check the calendar for detailed information on dates and times of Shabbat Services.

High Holy Days - We invite all those who wish to attend High Holiday services to join us. While we do not sell tickets for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, we ask that you consider supporting our congregation by including us in your tzedakah (charitable giving) during the holiday season.
We welcome all who wish to come and worship with us at Shabbat and festival services.
